LOCAL SHETLAND RULES

FIELD SET UP
a)The Home team is responsible for field
set up, if the field has not already been prepped.
This includes installing the bases and
placing out trash cans.
b)The Visitor team is responsible for
emptying the trash cans in the stands and the dug outs after the game.
OFFENSIVELY
a)Batting order is continuous and consists
of all players in attendance.
b)Each player will have 2 turns at bat, but
the game should not exceed 1 hour and 10 minutes.
c)Coaches are not allowed to
pitch to players.
Players must hit
from a batting âTâ.
d)Each batter will receive a maximum of 5
swings. If a ball is not put into play after 5 swings the batter should advance
to first base.
e)Once a team has batted through its line
up once, or after three outs whichever comes first, the team batting will
switch with the team in the field.
f)A team can field a maximum of twelve
players.
BASE RUNNING
a)No leading off base or stealing.
b)Runners may advance only on a batted
ball.
DEFENSIVELY
a)Maximum of 12 defensive players and 1
catcher may take the field at any one time.
Set players at the normal infield positions.
The remaining players should be in the
outfield, at least 12 feet out from the infield players.
b)After a ball is hit, the defensive
player(s) must get the ball back to a player who is on the pitchers mound to
stop the play.
c)The Coach of the team at bat will
determine the location of the base runners at the time the pitcher raises
his/her arms. If a runner is at or crosses the mid-point between the bases the
runner will be awarded the base. If not, the runner must return to the base he
was occupying and is not out.
d)There is free player substitution.
GENERAL PLAYING RULES
a)The Home is listed second and Visitor
teams will be listed first.
b)A catcher can be used provided the
catcher stands away from the plate while the ball is being hit off the âTâ.
c)Games will be a maximum of 1 hour and maximum
of 4 to 5 innings, whichever comes first.
d)There is no official score book.
e)All games must start within 10 minutes of
scheduled start time.
f)Any player or Coach intentionally
throwing equipment in anger, or using fowl language will be ejected from the
game by a Toro Pony Baseball Board member.
g)All coaches must be certified by the Toro
Pony league and be subject to a background check.
h)
Rain delays or mid-game cancellations are at the
Coaches discretion and will not be made up during the season.
